Description
Resurrection Rolls are a meaningful Easter tradition that beautifully illustrates the story of Christ’s resurrection through baking. These fluffy, buttery rolls hide a marshmallow that disappears during baking, leaving behind a hollow center – symbolizing the empty tomb. Perfect for family gatherings or Easter breakfast, this recipe combines faith, fun, and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (¼ oz) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm water (110°F)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup melted butter (plus extra for brushing)
- 1 large egg
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 8 large marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar mixture
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water, yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Let sit until foamy (5-10 minutes).
- Prepare dough by adding remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, egg, and flour to yeast mixture. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Divide dough into 8 pieces. Flatten each, place a marshmallow in center, and wrap dough around it completely. Roll in cinnamon sugar.
- Place rolls seam-side down on greased baking sheet. Brush with butter and bake at 375°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Use fresh marshmallows for best results
- Ensure dough is completely sealed around marshmallow
