Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (adjust as needed)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  4. Add Egg and Flavorings: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until fully incorporated. Adjust coloring as desired.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in white chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Portion Dough: Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets using a cookie scoop, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are set and centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Cool: Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Chilling Dough: Chill the dough for 30 minutes to reduce spreading during baking.
  • Variations: Use dark chocolate chips, add nuts, or create a cream cheese swirl for a unique twist.
