Description

Make the best French toast in just 15 minutes! This quick and easy recipe delivers a crispy, golden exterior with a soft, custard-like center. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices bread (white, whole wheat, brioche, or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar, for serving
  • Fresh fruits (bananas, strawberries, or blueberries, optional)

Instructions

. Prepare the Batter

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

2. Heat the Pan

  • Place a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter.

3. Dip the Bread

  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring it is coated on both sides without becoming overly soggy.

4. Cook the French Toast

  • Place the coated bread slices onto the heated skillet. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

5. Serve Immediately

  • Remove from the pan and serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Savory French Toast: Skip the sugar and vanilla, and add salt, pepper, and herbs for a savory twist.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk instead of regular milk.
  • Vegan Alternative: Substitute eggs with a mixture of mashed bananas or flaxseed meal mixed with water.
  • Stuffed French Toast: Spread cream cheese, Nutella, or peanut butter between two slices before dipping.
  • Spiced Version: Add nutmeg, cardamom, or pumpkin spice for a seasonal touch.
