Description
A creamy and energizing matcha latte recipe made with green tea powder, milk, and optional sweeteners. Enjoy this antioxidant-rich drink hot or iced!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
- 2 ounces hot water (about 175°F or 80°C)
- 3/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy options like almond, oat, or soy)
- Sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or sugar) (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Ice cubes (for iced matcha lattes)
Instructions
- Sift the Matcha – Use a fine-mesh strainer to sift matcha powder into a cup or bowl to prevent clumps.
- Whisk with Hot Water – Add hot water and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion using a bamboo whisk or handheld frother until frothy.
- Heat the Milk – Warm the milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling. Skip this step for an iced matcha latte.
- Froth the Milk – Use a milk frother, blender, or whisk to create a foamy texture.
- Combine & Sweeten – Pour frothed milk over the whisked matcha. Stir in sweetener and vanilla extract if desired.
- Serve & Enjoy – For an iced matcha latte, add ice cubes before pouring in the milk. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- Dairy-Free Matcha Latte – Use almond, oat, soy, or coconut milk.
- Sweetened Matcha Latte – Add honey, maple syrup, agave, or vanilla syrup.
- Iced Matcha Latte – Whisk matcha with cold water, then pour over ice with cold milk.
- Extra Frothy Matcha Latte – Blend all ingredients for a thicker, foamy texture.
- Matcha Mocha Latte – Add 1 teaspoon cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist.
- Spiced Matcha Latte – Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for added warmth.
