Description

A restaurant-quality LongHorn Steakhouse Chicken Parmesan recipe featuring crispy breaded chicken, rich marinara sauce, and melted cheese. Easy to make at home and perfect for family dinners!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
  • Spaghetti or preferred side (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Set Up Breading Stations: In three separate bowls, place flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and a mixture of Italian breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese in the third.
  3. Bread the Chicken: Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip into the egg wash, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Heat a combination of olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook each breaded chicken breast for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  5. Prepare the Marinara Sauce: Warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over low heat.
  6. Assemble the Dish: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the cooked chicken breasts on a baking sheet or in an oven-safe dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece and top with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake: Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve with spaghetti or your preferred side.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add crushed red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce for a bit of heat.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour to make the dish suitable for those with gluten sensitivities.
  • Different Cheeses: Swap out mozzarella for provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses for a richer flavor.
  • Baked Instead of Fried: For a lighter version, bake the breaded chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
