Description
Green Bean Almondine is a classic French-inspired side dish that combines tender green beans with buttery toasted almonds for a delightful crunch. This elegant yet simple recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions, adding a touch of sophistication to any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the green beans under cold water and trim the ends. If you prefer shorter pieces, cut them in half.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced almonds and cook, stirring frequently, until they turn golden brown and fragrant (about 2-3 minutes). Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Drain the green beans and add them to the skillet with the toasted almonds. Toss gently to coat the beans in the buttery almond mixture. Drizzle with lemon juice, sprinkle with lemon zest, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat to maintain the texture.
- For extra flavor, try adding Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes.
