Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In another large bowl, cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vegetable oil and vanilla extract.
- Mix Wet and Dry: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Stir in hot coffee.
- Bake: Pour batter evenly into prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make Frosting: Beat butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk, until desired consistency is reached. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Assemble: Level cake tops if necessary. Place one layer on a serving plate, spread with frosting, and top with the second layer. Frost the entire cake.
