- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp water (divided)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Optional garnishes: sesame seeds, sliced green onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken and cook for 6–8 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and 2 tbsp water.
- In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp water to create a slurry.
- Combine Sauce and Chicken:
- Return the skillet to medium heat and pour in the soy sauce mixture.
- Simmer gently, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Coat the Chicken:
- Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet, tossing to coat it in the sauce.
- Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to meld flavors.
- Serve and Garnish:
- Serve hot over steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
