Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp – Pat shrimp dry and season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp – Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Cream Sauce – In the same skillet, melt additional butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Add broth and simmer for a minute.
  4. Add Cream and Cheese – Pour in the heavy cream and stir in Parmesan cheese. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return Shrimp to the Pan – Add the cooked shrimp back to the skillet and stir to coat in the creamy garlic sauce.
  6. Finish and Serve – Stir in lemon juice, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Spicy Version – Add extra red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Lighter Option – Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Extra Cheesy – Add shredded mozzarella for a thicker sauce.
  • Herb Infusion – Mix in basil or thyme for added aroma.
  • Garlic Butter Shrimp Without Cream – Skip the cream and use more butter and broth for a lighter sauce.
