- 4–6 croissants
- 8–12 slices ham
- 4–6 slices cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or gruyère)
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for glazing)
- 1 tsp poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the croissants in half horizontally, keeping them connected at the hinge.
- Spread Dijon mustard inside each croissant if using.
- Layer ham and cheese inside each croissant evenly.
- Melt butter and mix with honey or maple syrup (if using).
- Brush the tops of the croissants with the butter mixture.
- Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Warm in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 5–7 minutes or in an air fryer at 325°F (163°C) for 3–4 minutes.
- Make-Ahead: Assemble the croissants and refrigerate overnight before baking.
- Freezing: Freeze assembled (unbaked) croissants and bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
