This flavorful dish combines tender beef with a spicy chili sauce, crispy texture, and fluffy rice, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Ideal for spice lovers and busy weeknights, enjoy the perfect balance of heat and crunch in this Asian-inspired recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin or flank steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine or long-grain rice
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Fresh scallions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by marinating the beef slices with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef slices and fry until crispy and golden, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same pan, add more oil if needed, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add bell peppers and cook until slightly tender.
  4. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili flakes, and water to create spicy sauce. Pour over vegetables and stir well.
  5. Add crispy beef back into the pan with the veggies and sauce. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Serve over cooked rice, garnished with chopped scallions and sesame seeds. Optionally, add other rice and protein recipes for variety.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the beef is coated with cornstarch before frying.
  • Adjust chili flakes to control spiciness.
  • Best served immediately to maintain crispy texture.
  • Store leftovers in airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet for optimal crunch.
