Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin or flank steak, sliced into thin strips
- 2 cups cooked jasmine or long-grain rice
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Fresh scallions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by marinating the beef slices with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef slices and fry until crispy and golden, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same pan, add more oil if needed, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add bell peppers and cook until slightly tender.
- Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili flakes, and water to create spicy sauce. Pour over vegetables and stir well.
- Add crispy beef back into the pan with the veggies and sauce. Mix thoroughly.
- Serve over cooked rice, garnished with chopped scallions and sesame seeds. Optionally, add other rice and protein recipes for variety.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, ensure the beef is coated with cornstarch before frying.
- Adjust chili flakes to control spiciness.
- Best served immediately to maintain crispy texture.
- Store leftovers in airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet for optimal crunch.
