Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour cake pans, line bottoms with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter and milk; mix on low until combined, then medium for 2 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in cotton candy flavoring and pink food coloring (if using).
- Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a wooden skewer comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then invert onto wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar on low speed.
- Add vanilla extract and milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency. Beat on high for 2-3 minutes until light and airy.
- Level cooled cakes with a serrated knife if needed. Place one layer on a serving plate and spread with frosting.
- Place the second layer on top, frost entire cake.Gently press cotton candy around the top edge of the cake. Add sprinkles if desired. Serve immediately.
